Current Courses and Workshops

I wasn’t sure that I’d be able to write anything on the day, but Amanda put us at ease and had the skill to help us unlock those memories and put pen to paper. She ensured that each participant had an opportunity to share what they had written and to be heard and valued.

Write a Short Story in Five Weeks 10.30am-12.30pm on consecutive Thursdays between 10 September-8 October. This is a practical course which aims to get you writing and finishing a complete short story within five weeks. As with all my workshops and courses, you’ll get detailed handouts at every session with written instructions for all tasks and additional prompts and information to help you make progress afterwards – including on where and how to submit your finished story for publication. £180.

The sessions were really well planned. Amanda ensured that the atmosphere was relaxed but controlled so each was able to participate fully and share their views. Each session provided opportunities for discussion and writing practice with helpful feedback and skill development. All of which helped build individual confidence and cohesion within the group.

Feedback from my Get Writing Course at The Biscuit Factory (January 2026)

I have really enjoyed this course. It has helped me develop confidence in my writing and has inspired me with new ideas. Amanda has structured the course really well providing a good balance between writing, critiquing and practical suggestions around the craft of writing. She has been extremely supportive to all the group members and made writing accessible to all.
